Healthy Weight Loss

Healthy weight loss can be a confusing thing at times. We are taught to believe that weight loss is one and only one way. They even give you what they call the “BMI” to tell you how much you should weigh depending on your height. You can calculate it online. It is to be applied to adult men and women, and you don’t have to have a specialist or anything else. But how does this actually work?

There are far too many problems with the BMI. The Body Mass Index fails to take into account a number of rather important factors. They give you a range for your height yes. And they have 4 basic categories. You can be underweight, normal weight, overweight, or you can hit obesity. But it’s not what you may think.

First of all, the BMI does not take into account bone mass. Obviously, some people have significantly smaller or denser bones than others. And so while water is the biggest part of the body, that is a huge factor in weight. Those who have bigger bone mass should weigh more than those with smaller bone mass. So technically, by the BMI’s definition, one could be underweight for their height due to small bone mass. But were you to actually get a professional who measured the BMI expectations taking this into account that person might be exactly the weight that they should be in order to be healthy.

Second, it does not account for the fat muscle ratio. Muscle may take up less space for the weight. But obviously, for somebody like a bodybuilder, it can be a huge issue. When they measure obesity, they are actually measuring the body fat ratio. But it does not work the same way if they consider you overweight. A bodybuilder will not likely even fit into the weight class required to be considered obese. But many men who workout are considered to be overweight because of their muscle mass. They may have extremely small amounts of body fat, and they may be extremely healthy or they may even have too little body fat percentage. But if anything, the BMI will tell them that they are overweight.

There are many different factors when it comes to body weight and how to be healthy. But when it comes to the BMI, you simply cannot count on it. There is such thing as too skinny, and you have to judge on an individual basis to determine what your healthy weight is going to be.

Foods That Detoxify

Many new detox supplements are using foods like acai that they say will help you to detoxify the body as their main or sometimes as their only ingredient! They say that these will help you to finally eliminate toxins in the body, increase energy, lose weight, etc. But of course, ingredients like acai do not cleanse the body or promote weight loss!
