Allow a Day Off
It may sound silly and a little bit risky, but having a day off from your healthy eating plan is sometimes essential in order for you to stick to it. This is because when you are constantly stopping yourself from having treats, you are gradually starting to resent your diet and it will get to a point where you think “I don’t care anymore I just want that piece of cake!” and then usually you end up overindulging and feeling really miserable. So, allow yourself one day a week where you can eat whatever you want. That one day should not make much of a difference just as long as you control yourself as much as possible!
Accept The Bad Days
Every single person who is on a healthy eating plan will have a bad day at some point. In fact, they are likely to have quite a few! However, the best way to stick to a healthy eating plan is to figure out that sometimes you will slip up. You need to understand that and accept it. If you don’t accept it you will end up feeling extremely guilty and you will beat yourself up which usually makes you want to eat even more, and so the cycle starts all over again. So, when you do have a bad day, and you will, make sure that you accept it and move on.
Take Part in Regular Snacking
There is a common misconception that snacking is wrong and that it is basically what puts most people’s weight on. However, the truth of the matter is that actually snacking is good for you; it is what you are snacking on that matters!
If you are snacking on biscuits and crisps then you are going to put on weight, however if you snack on nuts, seeds and fruit you are actually doing the body some good. Regular snacking stops the body from becoming hungry. It is unhealthy to leave the body without food for a long period of time and so snacking helps to bridge the gap before meal times. Just ensure that you are snacking on the right foods and you should be ok.
